Editing Ship Rates

BMVD sellers are required to follow the Amazon-defined shipping rates on Amazon.com, although they can choose to opt in/out of supporting Expedited and International shipping service levels. Fortunately, this restriction does not apply to BMVD sellers on their WebStores.

How to Access this Feature

Please Note: Sellers with the Standard WebStore interface (see Interface Differences) can access this feature by going to "Settings > Ship Settings" from their Seller Central home page, and follow those instructions

Sellers with the Marketplace/Media interface (see Interface Differences) can access this feature by simply clicking on Edit ship rates for media option on the home page.

BMVD sellers can use the Edit Ship Rates feature to set their own mandated shipping rates for BMVD inventory at the category level. This inventory includes the following categories:

  • Books

  • Music (CDs)

  • Video (VHS, VCDs, etc)

  • DVD

The shipping rates are set on a per item basis and unless modified, the values that show in the shipping rate fields are the Amazon default values.

Important: These rates only impact the shipping levels that the seller has enabled. For example, the seller’s International ship rates will only apply if he has enabled International Shipping for an item, and an International order is placed on that item on his WebStore.

Note: When changes are made to the shipping rates, please allow up to 4 hours for the changes to take effect. Also note that these rates will be applied across all of your WebStores, but will not impact your shipping rates on Amazon.com. For non-media categories (e.g.: Electronics), Amazon-defined default ship rates will apply.
